Keynote Speaker

Barbara Kunz

I’m a metamorphic petrologist and geochemist interested in studying the chemical, isotopic and textural signatures of high-grade metamorphism and anatexis in crustal rocks. My research focuses on the influence and chemical signatures that metamorphic processes might have on concentrating and/or releasing critical raw materials (e.g. Li, V, Sn & W). In the past I’ve studied the effects of prolonged high-temperature metamorphism on isotopic and element signatures in zircon from the Ivrea Zone. I run the LA-ICP-MS lab at the Open University and through that am involved in the analytical aspect of a wide range of earth science projects.
